In 2012, while working as an Engineer in Munich, Ben invented the world’s first pull-turn-push Hynge mechanism.
After decades working in big cities, living in small apartments and yet wanting functional stylish decor, I was frustrated. I needed a desk and sideboard but I only had space for one.
So I dreamed up a two-in-one solution but there was no hinge on the market for the key movement I needed: an impossible 90-degree turn in a restricted corner space.

I sketched and sketched and 3 months later...Hureka! I figured out the magic movement. Pull, turn, push!
Working in parallel as an Engineer and General Manager for a large firm, I patented my first Hynge mechanism in 2012. And the rest is history as they say.
Now with a loyal tribe of Hynge-lovers in over 37 countries Ben Halde’s magic product is helping solve compact living (and working) design challenges across the globe.
