Movement 01:
Swivel Top
The kick-starter for the entire Hynge story. Ben’s first invention was born from the need for 2-in-1 furniture in his apartment: a stow-away work desk plus storage space within a side cabinet.
Benefits:
Rotate a desk or furniture element on top of a stationary piece such as a shelf, cupboard, or sideboard.
No need to pack away whatever’s on top of the workspace during rotation.
Perfect for stowing away your home office at the end of the day or expanding your kitchen benchtop in the middle of cooking.
Movement 02:
Swivel Bottom
The second brain-child, created especially for a customer in Hong Kong who needed a clever desk solution within his living room shelf.
Benefits:
A hide-away kitchen expander for after-work drinks with friends or family dinners.
Ideal for kitchen islands where cabinetry can be rotated out from under the benchtop.
Quickly add extra space in office environments, for reviewing drawings or having an impromptu meeting with colleagues or clients.
Slide & Swivel
Movement 03:
This idea sparked in 2011 when designing the first mechanism, but sat until the pandemic, when there was finally time for development, and funding by the Bavarian state innovation gutschein program.
Benefits:
Offering the ultimate in flexibility, this has the most movement options in the range.
A combination of swivel top and sideways, sliding in two positions (open or closed).
Ideal for a workspace that might block a walkway when in use. No need to pack away whatever’s on top during rotation.
